October 17, 1935 - October 13, 2020
Born in Pine Lake, Alberta, Dunc came to the Island as a young man to join his siblings. Over the years he was a jockey, a rodeo rider, a cowboy, a stucco and plasterer and a farmer.
He worked - and played - hard. When his body began to fail he continued to work around the farm, long after most people would have called it quits.
A tough, determined man. Duncan has finally slipped away to a better place. His last few years were horrid, but now he is free. Free from pain, from confusion, from frustration and from anxiety.
A man of few words, he found it difficult to express his emotions, but he did dearly love his family, his friends and all the animals that were a part of his life.
He is survived by his daughter Christine Rimmer and her sons James and Carl; his many nephews and nieces; and his partner of 22 years, Candice.
Words can't express the gratitude we feel towards Dr. Tom Rimmer for his exceptional care of and compassion towards Duncan over the years and to the wonderful staff at Cairnsmore Place who did their best to make Dunc's life comfortable.
There will be no service or celebration of life. Dunc will remain in the minds, the hearts and the memories of those who cared about him.
