In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Duane William Partee announce his passing on February 24th 2023, age 88yrs, at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
Duane will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Patricia, his brother, Rodney, his 5 children Kathleen (James), Kristine (Randy), Peter (Janis), Korine (Grant), Colleen (Barry); his 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Son of Helen and Rev. Raymond Partee, Duane was born in Washington state and grew up in the Seattle area where he met and married the love of his life, Patricia. In 1959, Duane and Pat settled in Redding, California where they raised their 5 children.
In 1970, Duane accepted a position with MacMillan Bloedel and moved the family to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island B.C.
Duane's love for the outdoors, strong work ethics, and devotion to family, friends, and community began as a youth with the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the highest rank of Eagle Scott. Over the years, Duane spent many summers on Mt Rainier scaled the summit twice and hiked along the Wonderland Trail multiple times. His passion for hiking continued with trips up Mount Benson, Mount Albert Edward and the Cape Scott Trail.
Living on Vancouver Island, Duane and Pat enjoyed life near the ocean. After taking the basic boating course, Duane joined the Nanaimo Power and Sail Squadron in 1975. He was involved at the local, district, and National levels and earned merit marks for a lifetime membership. Duane was also a standing member of the Nanaimo Yacht Club.
An avid craftsman, Duane would often be found in his workshop busy with a woodworking project. Family and friends always enjoyed being the recipient of his finished works.
