On October 14, 2018 our father died peacefully in his home at the age of 99. Roe enjoyed 44 years in the Seal Bay house and spent his last day enjoying the ocean view with his children at his side. He is predeceased by his loving wife Doris (nee Heels) and is survived by his daughter Nancy Greene (David McGee), sons John (Nancy) and Robert (Jodi), his grandchildren Charlie, Katie, Colin, Patrick, Jessica and Michelle and his great grandchildren Trent, Jade, Willa- Jean, Angus and Gavin.

Roe was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on April 12, 1919. His early summers were spent working on his grandfather's farm in Clinton Ontario. Dentistry was our father's chosen vocation and he studied at the University of Toronto. When the war years ensued, Roe joined the Canadian Army as a Medical Officer and served aboard the fighting ships of the Royal Navy during the Pacific Campaign. Shortly after the war, a broken leg landed Roe in the hospital where he met a beautiful blonde haired nurse who called herself "Dot." With Dot at his side, Roe served in the military for 28 years. Upon retiring, mom and dad settled in Comox.

Retirement for dad was spent fishing aboard The Letne, golfing with mom, enjoying the outdoors, counting his cars, painting, and studying many topics that intrigued his inquiring mind. But one of our father's proudest accomplishments in life was being a "Jumper." Family gatherings never passed without dad regaling us with his concocted battle address to the young solders under his command:

Somewhere the sun is shining,

Somewhere the songbirds dwell.

Hook up your lines me hearties,

You're on the road to hell!

Follow me!

Soft landing dad and remember to bend your knees and roll. We love you and we miss you. Our family would like to thank Dr. Olga Lamkina, Classic Life Care Staff, OT Hilary MacInnis and the RN's at North Island Home and Community Care for the compassionate care they provided our father.

Please join us at #2274 Seabank Road on October 27, 2018 between the hours of 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm for the final salute to our noble and eloquent father.
