In loving memory ~
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Harold on May 15, 2022.
Harold is predeceased by both his parents in 1962 and 1978 and his brother David.C.G. Etter in 2013.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Caroline Miriam Etter, his sons Harold Paul Etter of Vancouver and Mark Clinton Etter of San Luis California, his grandchildren Halee Grace Etter, Bray Clinton Etter and Mallory Caroline Etter, Several nieces and nephews, and many long-time friends.
Harold was an educated man earning his B.S.A (Agriculture) in 1961, from the University of British Columbia, M.Sc. (Agriculture Soil Science) in 1963, from Oregon Stat University, Ph.D. (Botany) in 1966, from the University of British Columbia.
Harold had an extensive scientific career, he was a Research Scientist from 1966-1972 with Environment Canada, an Ecological Protection Biologist with Environment Protection Service, Environment Canada from 1972-1974. From 1974 until his retirement he worked with Thurber Consultants, coordination, and contribution to environmental assessments of hydroelectric, transmission line, railway, refinery, highway, and airport projects in Western Canada. He was an Occasional lecturer, for the Department of Biology, University of Victoria.
He was always involved in choirs and had a long involvement with the International Leprosy Mission. He enjoyed volunteering at the Parksville Salvation Army. He loved gardening.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday June 17, 2022, at Yates Memorial Service in Parksville.
