December 19, 1967 - July 25, 2021
Douglas "Doug" Scott Nielsen passed away suddenly at his home in Campbell River at the young age of 53.
Doug is survived by his wife and true love, Brenda Nielsen (nee Booth), of 28 years, his beautiful treasured daughters Ashley and Emily Nielsen, his mother Marion Turner (Don Bray), his father Michael Nielsen, his sister Charmaine Mode (Stephen), his brothers Tyler and Matthew Nielsen, his nieces and nephews and many extended family members.
Doug was born in Invermere, BC and grew up in Port Alberni, BC where he met his high school sweetheart, Brenda. Doug trained in the field of water treatment and settled in Port Alice while working for the mill for many years. Doug and Brenda started their family in Port Alice where they owned their first homes together. Eventually Doug found a job working remotely in Alberta so they moved and settled closer to family in Campbell River.
Doug loved and treasured his family more than anything in this world. Every decision he made was with his wife, daughters and family in mind. He loved working with tools and was so incredibly proud of the vintage truck that his father Mike gave to him, and he rebuilt with his stepfather Don.
Doug was incredibly generous with his time and talents; he would help you with a job that needed doing, loved making special gifts for his family and loved spending time with his daughters Ashley and Emily, of whom he was so incredibly proud.
The family would like to thank everyone who has reached out with support, gifts or assistance during this difficult time.
A private celebration was held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
