Born in Lethbridge, Alberta, the son of Charles and Lillian Folkins, Doug spent his early years in Medicine Hat.
His early interest in photography led to a lifelong hobby, and included school photographs, working for the Canadian Department of Defense and photographing many family gatherings.
Pottery also become an important part of his life with many of his pots in galleries and stores in Edmonton and Qualicum Beach.
He was one of Canada Packers top salesman, retiring in the mid 80's.
Doug is survived by his wife Lois, sister Muriel Oliphant, sons Neil (Jill), Andrew, daughter Barbara (Bruce, step granddaughters Diana, Jenafor), and four grandchildren: Jesse, Tim, Dale, Melanie.
We would like to thank the staff of Chartwell Malaspina for the special care Doug received in the last year of his life. No flowers please but a donation to the Transplant Society of Canada welcome.
