August 28, 1949 - October 6, 2022
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Doug Haywood. Doug passed on October 6, at the age of 73, after a two-week battle with a brain bleed.
Doug was born in 1949 and was raised in Smithers, B.C. by his parents WHB (Harry) and Mary Haywood. He worked as a barber from the age of 18. In 1977, life took him to Kamloops where he was a surveyor for the Ministry of Highways; a career he enjoyed and held for 25 years. It was in Kamloops where he met his wife, Terri, and where they raised their two children. Work moved the family to Parksville in 1995. In 2002, a government restructure led to him working in the BC Liquor Stores which he did for 10 years. Doug retired in 2012 and he enjoyed playing slow pitch, badminton, pickleball and meeting his friends at the gym. Doug is survived by his wife of 43 years, Terri Haywood, daughter Amanda Weeks (Mike), son Josh Haywood, sister Sandy Mould, brother Glenn Haywood (Glenda), sister Nancy White (Robert), and grand-daughter Kylie Weeks as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
