Dorothy Sophie Skipp passed away peacefully in her sleep in Parksville, BC on Friday, December 1, 2017, at the age of 88.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Donald; children Richard, Donald Jr., Derwin (Nancy), and Delaine (Kurt); sister Sally, as well as many grandchildren and extended family.

Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Dorothy was the third youngest of thirteen children. Born into a farming family in the 1920's, Dorothy was the only one of her siblings to complete post-secondary education, moving to Toronto to attend nursing school.

After meeting the love of her life, Donald, in Toronto, they moved to many different places across Canada and the United States before settling in Port Alberni in 1990. Dorothy became a very active member of the Southside Community Church and would volunteer for many of their events and activities.

She had an adventurous spirit and was always welcoming to new people she met. Dorothy was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be forever remembered as being generous, kind, and a fantastic cook. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Dorothy's Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, 4005 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC.
