It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Doris Boyce, who was predeceased by her parents Arthur & Grace Cross, her brother Allan Cross & his wife Erna, her first husband Bob Braham and the love of her life Mike Boyce, her dearest friend Terry Jones, many cousins, nieces & nephews.
Doris was a loving mother to Cathy McKinnon (Dave), Rob Braham (Pat), grandmother to Michelle Segade, Karla Segade-Whitmore, Kevin McKinnon, Bonnie Skinner (Pat), great-grandmother to Justyce Doyer (Colby), Celina Jacques, Maya & Mei & London Segade, Ava & Lola Whitemore, Sarah, Alice & Ruben Skinner and her newest great-great grandson Karter Doyer-Beck.
Doris was born in Cloverdale, B.C. she moved to Powell River 70 years ago and later on in 1980, she moved to Nanaimo, B.C. living there until her passing.
Doris was a member of the Powell River Fall Fair association and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 164 in Powell River. She loved to garden, had the chance of a lifetime opening the Flower Pot Florist with her partner Sheila Plisson.
She loved to sing & dance winning many trophies over the early years, cooking, baking, canning was always on the top of her list, but her best love were her "CRAFTS". Everything from her box of patterns she would make and off to the sales she went...Knitting became her choice of things to make from toques, mitts, slippers.
She made baby hats & slippers for our Powell River Baby nursery. Her trademark was the tiny pompom. She loved to travel and took many trips tour guiding on coaches everywhere. And in the late 80s was very active with the Bowen Park Seniors in Nanaimo. She lived a wonderful life...
Many thanks to her doctors and nurses with a special thank you to Ashley for being with Mom in the end.
