In Loving Memory ~
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dorethy Rose Stewart on December 15, 2021, age 70 yrs.
Dorethy was predeceased by her parents Earl and Rose Stewart, sister Lynn and brother Rodney.
She is survived and sorrowfully missed by her children Michael Jay Bates and Michelle Meurs (Greg). Also left to mourn the loss of her are her grandchildren Jared, Hailey and Chloe, brother John Stewart (Nancy), sisters Leanna Stewart, Coreen Wilcox as well as several nieces and nephews whom she always treated with so much love.
Although Ontario was her birth place and original home, British Columbia was where her heart was. She made her home in the Comox Valley for the past 26 plus years.
She was a beautiful soul who loved her family fiercely. Her love didn't stop there, the children whom she cared for in her daycare definitely had a special place in her heart. She was know affectionately as "DeDe" by many close to her.
In more recent years she worked in the Merville General Store where her warm and welcoming smile was always appreciated by her customers.
Her greatest joy was to visit and create wonderful memories with her daughter and grandchildren in Australia and she made the journey down under several times.
Dorethy's strength, compassion and sense of gratitude was beyond measure. She lived every day with an open, warm and generous heart. She will be missed greatly but not forgotten by those who knew and loved her.
The family held a small private service on December 26th to honor and celebrate her.
