It's with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Doraine Connie Edlund on December 19th, 2022.
A mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Doraine was born in Naicam, Saskatchewan, on February 6th, 1937. The family moved to Vancouver in the early 40s.
Doraine moved to Port Alberni and worked at the plywood plant. She met Don while living there. They were married on July 29th, 1961, which was Don's birthday. Their son Dale was born there.
Don was transferred to the mainland, and they lived in Port Coquitlam. Later he transferred back to Nanaimo where they lived the rest of their lives. Both Don and Doraine belonged to the Lions Club.
Doraine was predeceased by her husband Don and her son Dale.
She is survived by her sister Arlene Hoffman, daughter Karen (Tom) Smith, grandson John (Alanna) Smith, granddaughter Jennifer (Steve) McBride, great-grandsons Reagan Smith and Daxton McBride, great-granddaughter Kinley McBride, niece, nephew, 1 great niece, 4 great nephews, and 5 great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of life will be held on May 12th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 pm at the OAP Hall, 2465 Labieux Rd., Nanaimo.
