It is with overwhelming sadness that the family of Donalda Deane Hallberg announce her passing. Donalda passed away peacefully at home at the age of 91. She is survived by her children, Jane (Ron), Jodi (Ray), Jeff (Fiona), and Greg.
Donalda was also a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren, Bryce (Tracy), Jill (Steve), Karen (Andy), Drew, Haley (Bill), Jacob, and Erin and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Bill (Marilyn), sister Carole (Ray), sister-in-law Iva Fraser, and sister-in-law Mary Hallberg.
he is predeceased by her husband Lawrie, brother Douglas, sister Annafred and brother-in-law Jack Bell.
Donalda worked for over forty years as a Registered Nurse. She took her nursing education at the University of Alberta and began her career at the University Hospital in Edmonton. She retired from nursing from the Nanaimo Regional Hospital as a nursing supervisor after 13 years.
Donalda was an avid gardener and ardent walker. She enjoyed sewing and knitting and was a talented artist creating in oils and watercolors. In her retirement years she travelled with her husband around Vancouver Island, cruising the Gulf Islands and Desolation Sound in their boat. They had the time of their lives on these adventures, often exploring with good friends and fellow boaters.
Donalda was an exceptionally gracious lady. She was always positive, kind, caring and giving. She was a true friend to all that knew her, and her passing is an immeasurable loss to those that loved her. Donalda was a dedicated and adored mother, grandmother, and great grandmother (Gigi). She was much loved and will be forever missed.
There will be no service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be planned when we can gather safely.
