September 28, 1931 - September 2, 2022
In loving memory of
It comes with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Keith Cameron on Sept 2nd, 2022. Don was born in Wilkie, Sask. He grew up in Vancouver, B.C.
Don was born on September 28th, 1931. He was twice widowed, first by Shirley (nee Cush) and later by Ann (nee Winch)
He is survived by his 3 sisters Nadine, Cathy and Norma. Don was predeceased by his older brother Hugh just a year earlier. He is also survived by his 4 children, Robert, John (Jock), Alexander (Sandy) and Diane. He also had 4 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Don spent his working life as a pharmacist. After getting his degree from UBC he was invited to lunch at the Hotel Vancouver where he was offered a 3-month summer job at Ormes Drugs in Prince Rupert, BC. He stayed for over 30 years.
Once there he moved steadily up the ranks until he became the owner.
Prince Rupert is where he met his wife Shirley and they raised their family there. He was an active member of the Rotary Club. He also volunteered for the minor baseball association and refereed minor hockey.
They owned a boat called the Wizard and this provided entertainment and excitement on occasion.
His first house on 8th Avenue East was so off-level that he needed to, with the help of his Dad, raise it up and put in a new foundation with a basement. Years later he built one of the more prominent houses in town with a spectacular view.
Retirement brought him to Parksville BC where he purchased a wonderful piece of property that he loved. It's now part of Nature Trust's holdings for everyone to enjoy.
After Shirley passed, he married Ann. Both of his wives enjoyed working around the property. There was always lots to do.
Don lived a good, long life. He will be missed deeply and remembered with love.
