Donald 'Don' Meadows

January 21, 2021

January 13, 1937 - January 21, 2021
Donald (Don) Meadows slipped away in the early hours of January 21, 2021. Don was born January 13, 1937 to Fred and Doris (Willock) Meadows in Regina, Saskatchewan, and was their only child.
Don graduated from Scott Collegiate ('55), the University of Saskatchewan (B.A, '63) and the University of British Columbia (B.L.S. '67).
After graduating from UBC, Don began a life-long career in Library Management, (always attempting to dispel the notion that "books is bullshit"), building and overseeing the development of many regional library systems in Saskatchewan , Metro Toronto Reference Library, and to Nanaimo, BC where he led further inter-regional development of the Vancouver Island Regional Library System (VIRL).
"Fitz" met his second wife Isabella ("Mit") in Nanaimo where they lived happily and contentedly venturing regularly as far as Cox Bay, a place they both loved.
Don is survived by his beloved wife Isabella Smith; his sons Scott (Jennifer) and George (Carmen); his grandchildren Zac, Jake, Nathan, and Noah; Isabella's children, notably his stepdaughter (Didi") and her husband Keith, and Alan (Elaine) and Alyson.
Don did not want a service in a church with a bat-black belfry of any kind. His memory lives on in those who were inspired to cherish the poetry of Dylan Thomas, and to appreciate jazz and speculative fiction. Rest easy Don.
