Please join us in remembering an outstanding man, father, grandfather and friend Don Smith aka Donny, Smitty, Papa, Dad and *Mr. Biggy Smalls Smith*

Don was born August 25, 1948 one of 7 kids. Raised in CR with his many brothers and sisters Don was generally up to no good and loving every minute of it! Some things never change.
Work starts early when you are a teenage logger in the early 60s, pay was shy and the work was hard. A grapple operator line loader and highly respected in his field amongst his peers, Don worked all over the coast in some of the most beautiful places on the planet. Raising his family in logging camps our family began "camp life" in the early 70s with the Queen Charlottes Islands. Our dad taught us many life's lessons. Be kind to others, show up when you are needed, give more than you take as well as some life saving skills like how to burn a leach off ones leg with a red hot stick from the fire.
What could possibly go wrong with a few beers and a stick full of flames you say? Donnie loved his friends and proved it every day, he loved his family to the ends of the earth. We will all miss his laugh his dance moves his wise ass jokes and his beaming smile. Never a dull moment.
Always the first one to selflessly give, our Dad was inspiring right till his last breath. The heartbreaking loss of Donny will be felt by many.
Missed terribly by his family Don is survived by his two children Bill Smith (Nicole) and Marni Smith (Jeff ) as well as his Ex-wife and best friend of over 50 years Marlene Forbes (twice the ex wife I might add; don't get me started) the loving grandmother of his 7 grandchildren.
At home and by his side June 16, 2018 as a family we said good bye to the love of our lives, our best friend and hero.
