August 10, 1945 - July 12, 2020
Don passed away at home in Parksville, B.C. with his wife and daughter by his side.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Donna, daughters: Patricia (Marc) (Kevin) Wood of Parksville, and Wendy (Neil) Napper of Brooks, Alberta.
Don was predeceased by his Father and Mother, John and Gyneath, Brother Alwin, and Sisters Caraleen and Violet.
Don loved and was so proud of his 11 grandchildren: Matthew, Lacey-Dawn, Garrett, Joshua, Justin, Nathan, Christian, Meaghan, Tayleyn, Trinitea, and Teddy-Lena. He was so fortunate to also have great grandchildren: James, Violet, Scarlet, Damon, Bentley, Blair, Ronin, Roseline, Madeline, and twin girls due in November 2020.
He leaves behind his special niece Suzanne and many nieces, nephews, sisters and brother-inlaw's.
He also leaves many close friends and his dear fur babies, Boston and Rusty.
Don was hard working all of his life and spent 41 years in the moving industry, most of it with Comox Moving and Storage. He was known to be frugal and always had a $2.00 bill in his wallet, which never seemed to leave. He loved his hobbies and spent many hours in his workshop creating things of his own designs. He loved reading and learning new things. Camping, fishing, and making deals were more of his passions. Don loved to make $.25 bets, and when he lost, which he did a lot, he would say we already knew the answer. He loved making deals for new RV's, boat, or trucks and true to his character he was making deals right until the end of his life.
Don had a grumpy exterior, but he had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. He loved to tease and loved it more when you gave it back to him. He was always early for everything, and he was often in and out of an appointment before his scheduled time. He was a loving husband, Dad, Grampy, dearly missed.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Hunter, Dr. Morris, Dr. Chris, and all of the wonderful Palliative care nurses for their excellent care Memorial Services, Parksville, B.C. No service at this time but a gathering of family and friends at a later date. If you wish, donations may be made in Don's name to the Parksville SPCA, or the Palliative Care in Parksville.
