Digby William Britton Belcher passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife Brenda; son Douglas; daughter Cathy (Andy) MacKenzie and grandsons Connor and James; brothers Tom (Rosemary) and David; step-sisters Marnie (Charles) Ingvaldson, Joyce (Everett) Tomalty- Boyle and step-brother Richard (Joyce) Oliver; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his brother Norman and sister Joyce Johnson.

Digby was born in Chilliwack and grew up in Maple Ridge and Coquitlam. He began his career with Household Finance in 1958, before moving on to Thompson Valley Properties in 1976. In 1983 he launched his real estate career, which led him to ReMax Realty as broker/owner with partner Frank Johnson. In 2005 they were honoured as ReMax International Broker/Owner of the Year. Digby was also the managing director of Nanaimo Capital Corporation for over 20 years.

An avid boater, Digby was a long-time member of the Nanaimo Yacht Club and spent many summers boating with friends and cruising the Gulf Islands and Desolation Sound.

Digby was an active member of the Lions Club for almost 60 years and was granted a Life Membership for the Nanaimo Lions Club. He took on many executive roles with the Lions, was President multiple times, and was recognized for his contributions to his club and community.

Digby loved to travel with Brenda and to share time with many friends at home and while wintering in Sun City, Arizona. Digby was a true gentleman, and will be remembered for his strong work ethic; his sense of humour; and his love of music, family and friends.

Digby found great joy in playing his violin; and he often listened to lectures on a variety of topics in his quest to understand the universe and his place in it. Digby's wish was that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nanaimo Fiddle Society to support student bursaries for young musicians.

A celebration of life will be held at the Beban Park Social Centre in Nanaimo on Monday, January 28 at 2 pm.
