In Loving Memory (1938-2022) ~
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dietrich announce his passing on 5th May 2022, with his close family and friends at his side. Dietrich bravely fought Renal Cell Carcinoma for 3.5 years.
Don was a loving, caring husband for over 43 years to Carol and a wonderful father to Helene, Lance and Lisa and caring Uncle to Tine. He made the world a brighter and better place for his family. He was a very intelligent man and could fix anything that needed attention. He won us all over with his dry sense of humour, quiet voice and gentle ways. Don was always the Gentleman.
Don was predeceased by his parents Helene and Fritz Wisotzki, his daughter Helene, his brother Werner and sister-in-law Inge and is survived by his loving wife Carol, his children Lance (Coleen) and Lisa (Todd), niece Tine and grandchildren Paige and Keegan and many close friends.
Don was born in Rosenberg, West Prussia in 1938 and during WW2 moved to Harsleben (East Germany) then later to Nordhausen and eventually to Koln. Don, always the adventurer, emigrated to Red Deer, Alberta, Canada 1959.
Eventually Vancouver became his destination where he worked for CPAir - eventually Air Canada as a Mechanic. Don retired in 2003 and he and Carol moved to Courtenay, BC where they have spent 19 years happily together.
Don was a member of the Probus Club and Air Canada Pionairs. He loved the outdoors, the sea and the beaches, reading, music, and traveled extensively over the years to many interesting destinations. Don also loved a good one-on-one conversation on most topics and his Sunday Morning Pancakes were legendary - he was a family man and excelled at it.
He will be greatly missed by all and a celebration of his life will be held later in the coming months.
Many thanks to Dr. A. Bakshi, Dr. J. Reggler, Hospital Cancer Clinics in Courtenay and Victoria, Support Workers and Nurses for all their help and support.
