In the early hours of Tuesday, March 29th, Derry died at the Campbell River Hospital.
She lived an adventurous life, collecting 'family' wherever she roamed. She was an animal whisperer. We never met a creature who didn't respond to her. She was a master gardener, and could pickle, bottle and jam with the best of them. She was an avid reader. Books were incredibly important to her and there was always at least one waiting by her chair when she got up to get coffee. She loved to go barefoot. It was either that or flip flops. Her homes were always full of plants...almost like a jungle! She made a yummy shrimp fried rice. She loved to laugh and gave great hugs.
Derry is survived by her son, Chris, her brother Michael and sisters Lynn, Sue, Lori, Penny and Brigid along with a group of wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff on 3B for their tender care of Derry over the past weeks. She was in such wonderful hands.
