In loving memory ~

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Derek Martin on October 5, 2024, due to an aneurysm. Derek was a remarkable man known for his kindness, warmth, and genuine spirit. He leaves behind his beautiful wife, Marla; his beloved brother, Luke (Sage) who was his best friend and partner in crime; his adored daughter, Hattie - the center of his universe; and his most cherished children: Hanna, Justin, and Rachel. Derek was also a very proud uncle to Hailey, Will, and Oliver. His closest friends were not just friends; they were truly his family. He showed unconditional love to each one of them.

Derek's passing is a great loss to the logging community and all his friends. His passion for life was infectious. He enjoyed simple pleasures, from sipping his weekend lucky beer by the fire to creating unforgettable memories with those he loved. His laughter and generosity brought joy to everyone around him, and his gentle nature made him cherished among those who knew him.

Derek's legacy of love and friendship will live on in each one of us forever. As we mourn his loss, we celebrate the incredible life he lived - a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Derek will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 - 11:00pm on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at the Mellor Hall - Cowichan Exhibition Grounds, 7380 Trans-Canada Hwy, Duncan, BC.
