December 31, 1942 - August 18, 2021
Dennis died peacefully in Cowichan District Hospital with his wife Ellen by his side on August 18, 2021.
As a young man, Dennis served with Queen's Own Rifles with the United Nations in Cyprus. After he left the service he drove bus with Vancouver Island Coach Lines and with Pacific Stage Lines as well with city transit in Vancouver and Prince George.
Dennis was well known for his sense of humour and loved visiting with friends and family. With Ellen's help, he dealt with his MS with dignity and grace. He spent many hours out on the water fishing while his health allowed. Keeping up with world affairs and listening to his many genres of music were other favorite pastimes.
Dennis and Ellen were married for 55 years and enjoyed camping and traveling together. They shared many a laugh with each other and with friends and family.
He was predeceased by his infant brother Barney, father Russell Lyon, mother Pat Tetzlaff and stepfather Phil Tetzlaff.
He is survived by his loving wife Ellen, sisters Dianne(Dick), Gail(Bill), brothers Gary(Adele) and Noel(Patty), nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Bob, sisters-in- law Molly, Jan(Allan), and Marilyn(Bill), and many close friends.
Dennis so enjoyed the calls, texts and visits from family and friends, especially in these last days. The family would like to thank Drs MacDonald, Gallager, Morris, and Wilhelm for their diligent care as well as the staff at Cowichan District Hospital for helping to make his last days comfortable.
At his request, there will not be a service. Remember him with a smile.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society or a charity of choice.
