We are sad to announce the passing of our father July 24th in Nanaimo.

Del first came to Vancouver island at the tender age of 17 in 1947 and started his lifelong career in the construction industry working on the building of the Crofton pulp mill. After a few years he went back to Saskatchewan and married Elizabeth [Betty] Garratt and they moved to Prince George B.C. to start their family.

However it didn't take long to realize the winters there weren't much different than the prairies so they moved and settled in Nanaimo in the mid 50's. Del tried a few ventures but his pride and passion was building houses, and he developed a well known reputation for quality and trueness of his work from start to finish on every project.

He was predeceased by our mother Betty, his parents Neil and Emily Young and sister Blanche Pile.

Del is survived by his daughter Val [John Brookes] and grand daughters Brodie, Jennie and their families. Son Scott Young [Glenda] grandson Darren and his family, all of Vancouver Island, and his eldest son Rick,

grand kids Spencer and Emily of Red Deer Alberta.

He is also survived by his nephews Ed, Joe, and Murray Pile and their families.

At Del's request there will be no service.
