It is with great sadness we announce the passing of David Robert Smith on March 16, 2019 in Nanaimo, B.C. David is predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Jeanette Smith and his daughter, Sandra.
David is survived by his sons, Jeff (Lisa) and Terry (Angie), and daughters, Leanne (Tim), Cynthia (Bill), Brenda (Richard), and Sherry. David was also a beloved grandfather to his grandchildren Taylor, Mason, Carly, Katy, Matt, Marvin and AJ and a great-grandfather to Hadley, Maklin and Benjamin. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, extended family and close friends.
David was born on the family farm in Pennant, Saskatchewan on April 30, 1931 and spent the last thirty years in Nanaimo, B.C., where he enjoyed spending time with friends and family who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life will be held on April 20, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the German Cultural Centre (71 Caledonia Avenue, Nanaimo, B.C.) Family and friends are invited to join us as we share stories and memories in honour of David's life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Better Breathers Association of Nanaimo (2163 Cinnabar Drive, Nanaimo, B.C., V9X 1B2) in memory of David.
