It's with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of David Leon Sobel on June 4th, 2022 at the age of 59.
Dave was born to Isabelle and Leon Sobel in Toronto, Ontario, on September 10, 1962.
Dave grew up loving to play street and ice hockey with friends, off roading in the bush, riding motorcycles and fell in love with anything that had an engine!
Dave relocated to British Columbia in the late 80's where he started his career as a Millwright with local 2376 where he gave an impactful 36 years of dedicated service. He loved all his "Brothers". David was known for being incredibly passionate about his work as a millwright. He excelled in the exacting nature this work required. He made friends and earned the respect of so many of his peers. He was described as a calm, respectful and caring person to work with. He even became a mentor to many young Millwrights starting out. When he wasn't at the job site, Dave enjoyed being in his shop working on something or enjoying the great outdoors; he loved horseback riding!
Dave was a giving, caring and selfless soul. He would do anything for anyone, including giving you the shirt off his back, because that's the type of man Dave Sobel was!
Dave is survived by his two brothers; Patrick (Alena) and Alan (Gail) Sobel. His children; Cory McNabb (Cellina,Reid), Katherine Berry and his adored grandchildren (Jaxon,Cambria)
A Celebration of Life will be held in late August.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dave's name to a Men's Mental Health charity of your choice.
