On October 17th, 2022, David Christopher Read unexpectedly left us, at the young age of 50. Dave, with his loving wife, Karen, lived in Comox Valley for 21 years. He was born in Kamloops on February 12, 1972. In addition to Karen, he leaves behind parents, Jacqueline Read, Gordon and Marlene Read, mother-in-law, Isabelle Webster, brother, Ian (Leane), sister, Sheila (Don) Hutchinson, sister-in-law, Margaret (Bill) Szekely, his adoring nieces and nephews, Kate, Michael, Read, Tory, Marcello (Amanda, great niece, Aria), Isabella (Jake), best friend, Mike Inhart, and many, many deep and longtime friendships.
For those who knew him, Dave is predeceased by his fur babies, Marley, Henry, Harriet and Kletus.
Dave was gentle, compassionate, kind and generous to a fault. He also lived with a zest for life. Starting on the ski hill as a toddler, he had no fear - finding the black diamonds instead of groomed runs, racing BMX as a teenager, riding motorcycles and speeding cars faster than his mum would have wanted to know. He lived doing all the things he loved to do...traveling with friends, fishing, and his new hobby with "The Traeger".
Dave started life humbly and had many adventures before he entered his work life. Starting as a stocker with Shoppers Drug Mart, where he was to meet the future love of his life, he worked his way up to manager. He was a valuable employee for 22 years in Vancouver and the Comox Valley. For the past 8 years, Dave was a carpenter at Crown Isle Homes, where he was extremely proficient in foundation work, framing, and finishing work, and he excelled with customer service. He was known to all his workmates as "Super Dave". The world lost an amazing man.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday October 29th at Crown Isle from 1-4pm
