September 6, 1943 - October 2, 2019
David passed away at 8:28 am on October 2, 2019 while snuggled in his bed at home with his wife Vicky by his side. The son of Olive and Reginald Willington was born in London England while the bombs were dropping around him. David immigrated to Canada on Christmas Eve 1967 and made Vancouver Island his permanent home. David married Victoria Maria Finney on July 31, 1971 and completed his loving family with the addition of two sons, Matthew (1976) and Michael (1979).
David was very active in the soccer community when younger and darts as he got older, David was a joiner and at different times throughout his life was a member of the Elks, Kinsmen, K40, Old Timers Soccer Association, Men's Soccer and a lifetime member of the Comox Branch #160 of the Royal Canadian Legion. David had a full and busy social life, making numerous lifetime friends along the way.
David is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Vicky, sons; Matthew (Judy) and Michael, as well as grandchildren Richard, Isabelle, David and Reagyn. Also survived by brother-in-law Richard (Brenda) Finney, sister-in-law Karen Finney, sister Carol Lambeth of London England, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members overseas. Also left to mourn his passing is his "special nurse" Andrea.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday December 22, 2019 at 1 pm in the Upper Hall at the Comox Legion #160, Comox B.C.
Everyone is requested to bring an ornament for the Christmas tree as David loved Christmas.
Please no black clothes or sad faces. David, being the consummate social butterfly, would want this gathering to be a happy one where everyone can enjoy each others company and reminisce about the happy times we all shared with him.
