D'arcy passed away peacefully on April 2, 2019. She is predeceased by her brother, Alvin and sisters, Shirley and Betty, her father Joseph & Mary Ann Orr and Auntie Annie Orr, and many other close family members and friends.
"Even though our loved ones are no longer with us in their physical form, they are still very much with us and so very close. It's only their physical body which cease to exist, the real us, energy/spirit, is very much alive and well, with their memories, personality and most important...their love."
A beautiful woman with a great sense of humor. She was a story teller and her laugh was contagious. She was a loving mother, Nan, Great Gran and Great Great Grandmother.
Daughter to Joseph and Mary Ann Orr who made Courtenay their home in the early 1900's. D'arcy had many cherished memories growing up and spent the summers at Kye Bay Beach with her brother, Alvin and sisters, Shirley and Betty. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are blessed to have spent time with her and at Kye Bay Beach as well, walking to the reef exploring treasures, wading in the water gathering sand dollars, building forts on the beach and enjoying the beautiful sunsets.
Nan you may have lost your sandals, but we made it back.
D'arcy lived in Courtenay for most of her life and had five children, Dennis, Don, Donna, Gloria and Pat. Raising five children for the most part on her own wasn't always the easiest; we heard many stories throughout the years that sounded comical, but at the time we know this was a much different scenario. Time changes everything and we have had many laughs hearing the stories of life growing up in the Kraushar family. Nan and the kids were fortunate to have Annie in their lives, she was a generous and kind woman who cared and supported them all.
D'arcy worked at the Courtenay Bakery for 29 years until her retirement. I say work, but it was also a time for her, she met many friends that were close and carried on throughout the years. Her older grandchildren were lucky to have spent many of their younger years with her. Thank you Nan for the adventures, there were many.
You will be missed, but we will always remember your stories, love for nature and all animals. We were fortunate to have so many years with you and now you can rest.
The hummingbird's delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life's sweetest creation.
