In loving memory ~
It is with deep sadness that we announced the sudden passing of our wonderful son Curtis W Hansen at the age of 44 years, on September 17th 2022, in Pattaya Thailand, where he considered this home for many years. He was a grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin and dear friend to many wonderful people here and around the world. Curtis is survived by his parents Wayne and Christine Hansen, his dear sister Caralynn McLeod with her two daughters Sophie & Ava Andrichuk and his grandmother Julie Hustwick.
Curtis was born in Surrey Memorial Hospital in 1978 fifteen months after his big sister Caralynn. They became the best of friends, Caralynn loved her little brother dearly. Curtis attended Forest Park elementary school and graduated from Woodlands secondary school in 1996. At the age of 14, Curtis worked at the Bay Theatre as an usher, then later as a clerk at Quality Foods Grocery Store, then he became a cabinet builder at Island Kitchen Cabinets. Curtis then went on to studythe electrical program in Victoria at Comosun College, and graduated from NAIT with his Trade Certificate in Edmonton in 2002. From there Curtis worked as a journeyman electrician from 2001 to 2004 for Suncor in Fort McMurray, then worked for Syncrude from 2005 to 2007.
He later went to West Coast commercial diving school in Capetown, South Africa in 2008, obtained PLC certificate from BCIT in 2016 and then SITRAIN training of Industry PLC's in Kuala Lumper, Malaysia in 2019. With all of this training, he worked as an Electrical Dive Technician from 2008-2015 in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the UK. Between 2017-2019 he worked for Subsea 7 in Azerbaijan.
Curtis always had a smile on his face. He was full of life, worked hard, love to travel and always enjoyed his time with his friends and family, he was always eager to help anyone in need. Curtistruly enjoyed his career and travel, of which he worked hard at to keep that dream going.
Let us remember the smiling, the laughing, the good times spent together. Curtis was a very likeable, kind, generous, and funny young man. Gone much too soon, but never to be forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring 2023. Rest In Peace dear Curtis.
