October 16, 2018

Conrad Glaum died in Duncan on October 16th, 2018. Conrad had recently been in declining health but lived life to the fullest until his death. He was 88 years of age.

Conrad was born in Berwyn, Alberta on June 20th, 1930 to John and Johanne Glaum. He attended school in Berwyn; then worked with his father in the Peace River Country. Con married Verna Young in 1953, joined the Canadian Navy in 1954 and had their one child, Douglas in 1955. Con was stationed in Victoria for his twenty years of service.

Upon "retirement", Con joined the Naval Reserves and spent summers training Navy Cadets how to operate smaller ships. He found this work very rewarding.

Conrad spent the last forty years of his life in the Cowichan Valley when not travelling North America and the world with his wife and family.

Con is survived by his wife, son, daughter-in-law Barbra and grandchildren Michelle, Jenna and Geoffrey.
