Clifford (Cliff ) Vernon Egilson, 86, of Courtenay BC passed away suddenly at home on February 12, 2020.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 28 at Aaron House, 2946 Kilpatrick Avenue, Courtenay BC.
Cliff lived in Port Alberni for over 50 years prior to moving to Courtenay four years ago. He was born at home to Arnor and Loa on the farm in Swan River, Manitoba, March 30, 1933. The youngest of 5 boys, Cliff grew up on the farm prior to the family moving to Vancouver where he graduated from King Edward High School. He met his first wife Marge (nee Sommerfeld) and married in Abbotsford in 1954. Cliff moved to Port Alberni in 1960 where he raised a family and had a long career in the forest industry as a heavy-duty mechanic. He retired from MacMillan Bloedel's Cameron Division and became involved in community service as a long-time treasurer for the Elks. Cliff was widowed in 2000 and remarried in 2009. With a new chapter in his life Cliff thrived in the company of Myrna and enjoyed much travel, reading, watching sports, church and visiting with friends and family.
Cliff is survived by his wife Myrna; three children Lori Vaness (Barry), Christine (Martin), Michael (Joy); grandchildren Branden, Daena (Kevin), Deven, Cailen (Lynden), Stefan, Aren and Megan; great grandchildren Braya and Grace along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Marge, son Erik and his four brothers Konrad, Harold, Dan and Norman.
No matter how old we are, we still need our dads, and wonder how we'll get by without them.
