With heavy hearts we announce that Clay lost his battle with cancer, but those who knew him will know he didn't go without a fight, and he kept his sense of humour right to the end.
Originally from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Clay joined the Navy as a young man, and while stationed in Esquimalt met his future wife Annabelle, to whom he was married for 60 years, most of which was spent residing in the Cowichan Valley.
Clay spent most of his working life as an electrician at the Crofton pulp and paper mill, retiring from there as an electrical foreman. An avid fisherman, Clay was happiest in or on the water with a rod in his hand.
Clay leaves behind his wife Annabelle and their four children, sons Kim (Stacy), Ken (Arlene) and Michael and daughter Cezann (Mark).
He also leaves the apple of his eye, his granddaughter Cezann (Matt), and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as siblings, relatives and many friends.
He will be dearly missed.
