Born in Ottawa to parents John & Jean Shepherd, Chris's early years were shaped by being part of a Military family.

The family was posted to Comox in the mid 60's, and that is where Chris took root, staying behind (at 16) when the family made their last move. At that time Chris had a job at the Woodrow Bros farm, where he continued to work for 30 years, working his way up from carrot picker to Farm Manager.

Chris and Roberta married in 1975 and were soon proud parents of Jake & Jaime.

Eventually the era of the spud farm came to an end, so Chris and Roberta purchased Devonshire Farm, situated north of Courtenay. There they continued to work and play side by side, Chris was predeceased by his father John and father in law Robert. He leaves behind his mother Jean, brother Michael, (Katherine), sister Tracie, (Mike) son Jake, (Sara, Kody, Owen, Zachary, Alexandra, Chanel), daughter Jaime, (David, Slade, Baylee, Flint, baby (TBA 2019), a large extended family, and a network of lifelong friends. Lastly, Roberta, his loving wife of 43 years.

It was on their 41st annual hunting trip/vacation to their beloved Takysie Lake area, that Chris passed, suddenly but peacefully in the wilderness he loved.

Friends and family are welcome to join us around the bonfire for a toast, Sunday December 2nd, 1 pm - 4 pm at Devonshire Farm.

In lieu of flowers or donations in his memory, you are asked to call an old friend for a BS, take your kids fishing, go on a Sunday drive to a place you enjoy, or just enjoy the view of the moment before you.
