It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Christine Dorothy Rollison. Born Christmas day 1934, Christina passed away April 20th a day before Easter Sunday.
Our sweet Mother died just as she lived, surrounded by her loving family. She died with grace and dignity.
Chris was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Fred and her beloved son Andrew. She is survived by Gillian & Tony (Tom/Jessie and Sam), Lynn & Gordon (Nick/Mariena, [Chanel, Emma], Alex/Mariah) and Jennifer.
Emigrating to Canada in the early 60s Chris and Fred forged a new life, finding friends and a different life. She embraced the challenges of being in a new country and the opportunities it provided to her children. She and Fred developed many connections through her work at B.C. Tel, square dancing, travelling and RVing.
Although she may have seemed quiet, she was a force to be reckoned with. Smart, funny, adventurous, always planning, reading and learning. Chris was never judgemental; she shared her thoughts and advice with us. She shared herself with all she came in contact and people truly loved her. Chris left a legacy of kindness, love and generosity to those who knew her.
The last year, since Fred died, Chris suffered. Her desire to be with him and her desire to stay with her family was a real struggle. She fought hard to stay but her body and heart could only go so far. So, she left but not without the tenacious struggle she had waged for years against an autoimmune disease.
Our family would like to invite you to a service in honour of Chris’s life on Friday April 26, 2019 at 1 pm at Bethlehem Retreat Centre, 2371 Arbot Road in Nanaimo.
