Choy Gok Wong, 92, died peacefully in his sleep Sunday, Oct 14th 2018. He leaves his brother, Tommy Cheong Wong, his nephews, Trevan and Ian Wong, his niece, Cylia Wong, and many close friends.

Choy was born in Bowser, Cumberland BC and grew up in Duncan, the son of Wong Boo Chow and Mah Sui Han. For most of his adult life, Choy lived in Great Central Lake and Port Alberni working in the lumber mills. His many joys included laughter and conversation with his many friends in Port Alberni. He loved watching movies, reading books, and was interested in martial arts and the culinary arts. He was a keen observer of people.

He will be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving friend to all. He was always quick to aid people in need of food, shelter, and money, or just a someone to talk to. Choy especially loved the people of the First Nations who he considered as extended family. He loved their ways and customs. He even became known as an expert at constructing and sorts of knives from blades and animal horns.

A funeral service will be held at 11am November 17th 2018 at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Port Alberni. A "celebration of Life" luncheon to follow immediately after.
