It is with heavy hearts that the family of Charlotte Spidel-Markowski announce her passing on January 24, 2019 in Campbell River BC, after a 10-year, hard-fought battle with cancer. She was 61. Charlotte is survived by her Husband Joseph Markowski; her mother Louise Burton; sisters Linda (Alan) Stogre, Laverne (Neil) Miller; Brother Terry (Diane) Burton; son Morgan (Veronica) Spidel; daughter Erin (Bryan) Mett; Grandsons Kamdyn Spidel-Beauchamp and Alexander Mett and many nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was born in Vancouver, BC on April 25, 1957. As she grew up, she resided in many communities throughout BC, Alberta and Ontario. In 1977 she moved to Alberta where she married Douglas Spidel and raised their children, Morgan and Erin. She worked for the University of Alberta from 1987 until 2009. In 2008 she married Joe Markowski. In 2012 Charlotte and Joe, with Erin and Kamdyn, moved to Campbell River to enjoy the quiet beauty that the Island life provided. Charlotte's infectious sense of humour and positivity out weighed much of her battle with cancer. Her smile could light a room and her laughter was heard by everyone.

The Family wishes to extend a deep heart felt thank you to the staff in unit 3B at the North Island Hospital Campbell River, Dr. Leizl Sullivan, and Holly and Alex with the palliative care team, for taking such good care of Charlotte.

A celebration of life will be held April 13th, 2019 in Campbell River.

"No one knew the pain she bore -

Beneath the smile she always wore.

A loving memory in my heart treasured -

Of a Mother whose worth cannot be measured.
