February 20, 1959 - November 2, 2020
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved Channing.
He is survived by wife Gina ,daughter Rachael (Megan) son Braeden and his little love...grandson Rowan.
Also mourning his loss are his parents Gerald and Joy Swatez, brothers Scott (Claudette), and Kevin (Aranda) and many, many nieces and nephews.
Channing was born in Pennsylvania and lived in Berkeley, Chicago, Hornby Island and then resided in Nanaimo for more than 30 years.
He was in reforestation for 40 some years. He was on ski patrol on Mt. Washington for many years.
He loved skiing, windsurfing and playing volleyball.
He most enjoyed watching any sporting event the kids were involved in and enjoyed his years of coaching their ball hockey teams.
In Feb. our world was rocked when he was diagnosed with a rare horrible disease called MSA which he endured till the end when he died peacefully at home with his family by his side.
He will forever be loved and missed but always remembered for his big heart, his kindness and all will say...his sense of humour.
The family would like to thank the Home care workers for making it possible for his wish to be at home and always making him smile.
We are so grateful to u all.
We hope to be able to do a celebration in the spring...but if you would like to plant a tree in his memory please do so.
