July 19, 1933 - April 28, 2022
In Loving Memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Cecil Potter announce his peaceful passing, on April 28, 2022, in Courtenay, British Columbia, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on July 19, 1933, in Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, Cecil is predeceased by his wife, Ann-Marie Potter and is survived by his children, Pat Potter (Linda), Kevin Potter, Sean Potter, Joanne Corfield (Mike), Sara Kast (Ken), his grandchildren Britnie Potter (Leeland Paxton), Mark Corfield, Jessica Corfield, Stephanie Kast (Greg Jackson), and Josh Kast (Morgan Salisbury) and great grandson Emil Kast. Cecil is also survived by his sister Donna Harvey (Ron), and he leaves behind many neices and nephews, close family and friends.
Cec and Ann-Marie celebrated 52 years of marriage together. In 2014, Cecil remarried to Carol and they spent nearly 8 years bringing joy into each other's lives.
Cecil met Ann-Marie in Jasper and from there, they built their family and careers, eventually settling in Calgary to raise their family. After retiring from the bank, Cec and Ann-Marie moved west to the Island where they explored the oceans with many days spent sailing with friends and family. With a little nudge, Cec was always up for traveling and spent time abroad, most recently, with the entire family together in Ireland and the Netherlands.
Cecil was known for his kindred spirit and his generosity to those around him. His firm handshake was a show of his kindness that extended to all. He combined his passion for golf and poker, into what became a life-long group of friends with many memories of games played and laughs shared.
Cec will be remembered for his one-liners and witty humor around the dinner and poker table. His love for his children and grandchildren was endless and his admiration twinkled in his eyes. Known by all as Grandpa Cec, he was always available to lend a hand and he was steadfast and strong.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the compassionate nurses, doctors and staff at the North Island Hospital Comox Valley.
A celebration of life will be held at Christ the Kind Parish (1599 Tunner Drive, Courtenay, B.C.) on Monday May 2, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
