In Loving Memory ~ Cecil passed away peacefully in hospital on Sept 9th, 2021, at the age of 87. He is survived by his children, Brad (Christine), Sherrill (Dave), Allan (Nora), and a daughter-in-law Jay.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
After 57 years of marriage, Cecil was predeceased by his beloved wife, Donna, his son Lorne, and his parents John and Emily Peffers.
Born on a farm in Portage-la-Prairie, Manitoba, Cecil was the youngest of six children. He left home at age fifteen, looking for work, and headed west, eventually making his way to Port Alberni. After a few years he met Donna Cyr and their marriage in 1957 soon followed afterwards.
For 46 years, Cecil was a carpenter in Port Alberni. He ran his own company, 'Cec Peffers Contracting' until he retired in 1994. Since retirement, he enjoyed many hobbies, with his latest being running his backhoe and lumber mill. Cecil was never idle for long, and his home workshop would often find him building something for a family member.
Cecil loved being with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, most of whom lived nearby. He never missed a chance to go camping, fishing or hunting with family members, and also spent time down the Canal at his float cabin.
We give special thanks to Cec's neighbor and good friend Tom for always being there in recent years. Tom made Cec laugh and kept him on his toes.
According to Cecil's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest a donation be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
