Cathy was born in Winnipeg on December 9, 1946 to Peggy and Syd Horner, growing up on Poplarwood Avenue in St. Vital and attending Dakota Collegiate, class pf 1965.
In December of 1968 she married John Tippett. Their first son, Sydney John, was born in 1970 in St. Boniface Hospital, followed by Dirk in 1972. Shortly after Dirk's birth, they moved to Saskatoon. While there Cathy built her career starting at MacDonald Supply and moving onto Buy-Rite Furniture where she worked as Sales and Service Manager. Mom also worked for the Government of Saskatchewan providing a stable home for young offenders. She was "mom" to a lot of people, filling that role for anyone who needed guidance, acceptance, or just a hug.
While raising her boys, Cathy was always active in her community. She was a softball coach, Cub and Scout Leader and Venture Advisor. She was president of the Lionettes, and become a licensed Lay Minister.
After retiring, Cathy moved to Cowichan Valley to care for her mother. She became active in the Valley Seniors, holding many positions on the board including Director, Secretary, First Vice President, Receptionist Coordinator, Dance Coordinator and Newsletter Editor. It was here in Duncan that she met and married her loving husband Doug Wilson who died in 2003.
1999 was a big year for Cathy, with the loss of her beloved mother Peggy, the birth of Dirk's oldest daughter Sydney-Elin, and the addition of Laurie and Willow to her family. Syd and Laurie married in 2001 and Pearl was born in 2002. In 2013, Cathy was again blessed by the birth of a grandchild. Serenity was born that year, followed by her brother Cason in 2015 to keep Cathy on her toes.
Cathy was an eternal romantic, and when she met Ron they became constant companions, travelling, going on cruises, and celebrated Ron's birthday with his family and ours last month. Of course, as always, there was a dance.
Cathy was very happy to have added Ron's sons Ryan and Ken, Ken's partner Samantha and grandsons Logan, Marshal, and Brandon to her brood.
She loved playing crib with Ron, and would want you to know that the crib tally is Cathy: 240 games won and Ron: 216.
Cathy was a force of nature. We are going to miss her stories of growing up in Winnipeg, the family legends she shared with us, the cards that always came early for every occasion and her strength. She was our rock and our matriarch. May we be as smart and strong as she always claimed we were.
We would like to thank Dr. McDonald and Heather at the Victoria General Hospital, with thanks also to The Rev. MJ Leewis-Kirk for her pastoral care.
Cathy was predeceased by her father, Syd Horner, her mother, Peggy Woodman, her father, Vic Woodman, daughter Katie in infancy, grandson Alexander and husband, Doug Wilson.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband Ron Parker, son, Syd Tippett, his wife Laurie Bellisle and their daughters Willow Bellisle (Curtis) and Pearl Tippett, son Dirk Tippett and his girlfriend Kath, his daughters Sydney-Elin Laminman-Tippett (Craig), Serenity Tippett and son Cason Tippett. Ron's sons Ryan Parker and Ken Parker and his wife Samantha Leaver and their sons Logan Parker, Marshal Complair and Brandon Lundy, and her dear friend Arlene on Cherry Point Road.
