In loving memory ~
Carolyn passed away peacefully, at the time of her choosing, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Vancouver, the oldest child of Mel and Ann Henderson (nee Campbell). Carolyn attended Kitsilano High and graduated from UBC with a B.Ed. She taught for several years at Kerrisdale Elementary. She was introduced to the love of her life Robert (Bob) Capstick by Bob's younger sister Valerie. Bob and Carolyn were married in March 1964 in Vancouver. They resided in Burnaby for a short time where they adopted Jim and Karen before moving to Nanaimo in 1973.
Carolyn was a devoted mother and prioritized her family above all. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. As an elementary school teacher, Carolyn always made sure that there were plenty of activities and fun outings planned, but only after the homework was done.
In 1978, Carolyn and Bob purchased a cabin on Hornby Island where many happy summers were spent fishing, swimming, and beachcombing with friends and family. In retirement, Carolyn and Bob traveled widely.
Carolyn was a loving and devoted care giver to both her mother and to Bob in his final years.
Carolyn is survived by her brother Neil, son Jim (Kelly), daughter Karen (Mark) and grandchildren Zoe, Bea, Noah, and Leah.
