It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carole on January 13th after a short, but brave battle with cancer. Carole passed away peacefully in her home that she shared with her loving husband of 40 years, John, who cared for her until it was time to say goodbye.

In addition to John, she is survived by her 3 sons: Philip (Kristine) of Duncan BC, Brian of Shenzhen, China and Michael (Emma) of Guelph, ON., as well as her mother, Sheila; brothers: Robert (Denise), Peter (Dawn), and David.

She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, honorary sisters and many others who she considered family throughout BC, Ontario and the United Kingdom.  She will also be greatly missed by her grandsons Dylan and Isaac whom she adored and took great joy in spoiling! She was predeceased by her father, George.

Born in Penarth, South Wales, Carole emigrated in 1981 with husband John and son Philip and  called Ontario their home. Carole, a dedicated housewife and mother, worked for 15 years at the Erie Beach hotel as a supervisor and volunteered her time with the Veterans association.

Although Simcoe was the birthplace of sons Brian and Michael, it was in Port Dover that Carole developed lifelong friendships that she would quickly call her family. She continued to grow her extended family when she moved to BC in 2011 and Carole spent the past 6 years calling the Cowichan Valley her home.

When not volunteering with Cowichan Valley Hospice, enjoying the Intercultural society or discovering a new passion for archery, Carole's favorite activity was to spend time with family and friends, especially her beloved poodle Sophia and her grandsons.

Carole was always quick to welcome everyone with open arms, and her warmth and generosity will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate to meet her.

Those wishing to pay their respects in advance may attend a public viewing at Sands Funeral Chapel, on Monday, January 22, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Carole's Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC.

In lieu of flower, memorial donations in Carole's memory may be made directly to the Cowichan Valley Hospice Society, Cowichan Food Bank or the Cowichan Hospital foundation.

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and I could say, 'I used everything you gave me'
