March 10, 1935 - November 30, 2019
Bruce Charles Edwin Fitch Jr. passed away November 30, 2019 at the age of 84. He was affectionately known as Charlie. Charlie was born on March 10, 1935 in Sunrise Valley, British Columbia, just to the northwest of Dawson Creek in a beautiful area of prairie farmland.
Charlie was predeceased by his wife, Marvel, daughter Sheila Marie and son Darrel Murray. He is survived by three siblings; brother Don Fitch, sister Marilyn Sutton and Sister Frona Dawson as well as many nieces and nephews.
Charlie married the love of his life, Marvel Mae McCormick on September 30, 1954 in Quesnel and was her constant companion until she passed away in June 2017.
Charles worked hard all his life. He worked in forestry, building maintenance, janitorial services, transportation and tourism throughout the Province. In 1967 he and his family settled down in the Courtenay area and stayed in the Courtenay area for the rest of his life.
Charlie was a kind and generous man who had dedicated his life in Baptism to his God as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1952.
Always the jokester and prankster, there are many stories and tales of his humorous antics that could entertain the A&W crowd for hours. It is claimed that Marvel had to be a marvel to live with him for over 62 years.
Charlie would always conclude a conversation, both in person or on the phone with "I don't care what anyone says, it don't mean a thing to me (long pause)... I still like you."
He will be missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Comox Valley Funeral Home, Monday, December 16th, 2019 at 2 pm. Tea and Coffee will be served.
