July 26, 1935 - March 9, 2022
In Loving Memory ~
The family of Brian are saddened to announce his peaceful passing at Comox Valley Hospital on March 9th, 2022 with family at his side. Dad was born in London England on July 26th, 1935, one of six children.
Dad met our Mum Margaret (Maggie) when they were workjng at Heathrow Airport as Air Traffic Controllers. Dad then joined the RAF and later emigrated to Canada in 1957, to join the Canadian Search & Rescue and was stationed in Winnipeg. Mum followed and they were married the same year. Soon after the first of 5 children were born.
Dad & Mum moved the family to Edmonton, then on to Whitehorse where Dad worked for the Government. In 1968 the family moved to Comox where Dad became an Appraiser and started Lazo Realty with two partners.
In 1972 the family moved to Victoria, where Dad worked as an Appraiser for the Government. In 1975 Dad became homesick and the family decided to move back to England. Dad and Mum made this move an amazing adventure, by travelling from Victoria to Montreal in a Motorhome. The trip took six weeks, and we travelled through 22 states in the USA.
In Hereford, England Dad semi retired and worked for an Insurance company, and was a p/t teacher in the Building Department at the Hereford Tech College. Once again the travel bug hit and in 1981, Dad & Mum moved back to Canada, and settled in the Comox Valley.
Dad bought a commercial property which he renovated and started his Real Estate Company, Holmes Real Estate.
Dad & Mum still loved to travel. They travelled to many countries all over the world with family members, Peru, Australia, USA, and The Panama Canal just to name a few.
Predeceased by his loving wife Maggie in 2012. Dad is survived by his 5 children, Paul (Sue), Carol (Adrian), Keith, lan (Karli) & Heidi (Ray). Ten grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren.
Dad will be sadly missed, but is now reunited with our Mum, his loving and devoted wife of 55 years.
Many heartfelt thanks to the staff on the 3rd floor at the hospital, with a special mention to Wendy, Jodie and all the other dedicated staff members who took great care of our Dad in his final days.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate our Dads life.
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES DAD.
