April 24, 1941 - August 7, 2019
The Picture Is Now Complete.
Mom left last year to organize everyone, and Dad joined her on the morning of August 7th.
From teenagers to seniors they were never apart. Mom, Dad, my Sister (Lorraine) and me (Wayne) all came to Canada in 1977 for a new life. Dad was born in the Republic of Ireland and Mum in Canada, both while their parents were stationed during the war. They met in our hometown in England as teenage sweethearts.
Canada was a breath of fresh air and they both embraced it full on. Soon they bought a camper and explored wilderness camping with Chuck & Sue Wilson; our host family in Port Hardy.
Dad worked at Utah mines in the Gas Shop and later was proud to represent his brothers & sisters of the Operating Engineers.
Many adventures were to be had on Land & Sea with good friends Michael & Sheila, Ian & Jan, Chuck & Sue, Villy & Grace and many visitors from England and elsewhere.
Mom & Dad hosted hundreds of visitors to Port Hardy at Kay's Bed & Breakfast; often having to work shifts to accommodate the crazy ferry schedule.
After they retired, they returned to Mom's favourite of cruising accompanied mainly with Michael & Sheila from England with lots of high seas hijinks.
Dad is survived by his brother Malcolm and his sisters Jean, Kathleen & Christine. He was predeceased by his brother Keith.
My sister and I would like to express our gratitude to Lara & her team of home care nurses as well as the team of home support workers that helped Dad stay at home for as long as possible. Dr. Lee, his long time Physician and Jennifer & Kaylee at the Port Hardy Hospital that were so kind and comforting to Dad.
Special thanks to Dad's friend Arjan who was so kind to Dad and never failed to make Dad laugh and Tom and Ros for caring so much.
At Dad's request; there will be no service, please donate to your favourite charity in lieu of flowers and raise a glass to Mom & Dad when you are in the company of good friends.
