It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Lewicki, after a brief battle with cancer.

Devastated by the loss are his common-law wife, Helle (and her family); his daughter, Brina; his brothers Rick and Bob; his sisters, Bev (Dennis) and Jo Anne; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members. Predeceased by his father Nick in 1998 and his mother Joyce in 2017.

He will be greatly missed by many life-long friends, business associates, co workers, partners, staff, and of course, his clients (most of who ended up becoming friends).

Although originally a forestry engineer and heavy duty equipment operator, he had to make a career change late in life because of an injury. He wasn't happy when the aptitude tests kept coming back that he should switch to accounting, but eventually he embraced the challenge and became the 'old man' in class, excelling as he always did.

When he finally found the courage to strike out on his own, he was very successful. He was extremely proud of the accounting practice, Leakey and Lewicki Ltd., that he was able to build up in such a short time with his partner Spencer Leakey. His clients will undoubtedly miss his 'Mensa' IQ and his practical and common sense advice.

Brian was saddened that he only got to spend 5 years with Helle, whom he called the 'love of his life'. When they met on an online dating site, they both knew it

was a 'game changer'! He had planned to make the relationship official but he

never got the chance. They were expecting to take many more trips together, especially to his favourite place in the world, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. While they had wanted to grow old together, instead they had the privilege of working together as a team for the biggest fight of his life.

There will be no service by request, as Brian was a very private person. Instead, the next time you walk through Neck Point Park (Brian's other favourite spot), take a moment of quiet reflection and think of him.

If you wish to make a donation in his name, he was impressed with the good care he received at the BC Cancer Clinic in Victoria (BC Cancer Foundation) and the Palliative Care Unit at NRGH (Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation).

Special thanks to Dr. Danielle Downe for her 'above and beyond care'.

Hasta que nos encontoemos de nuevo, Brian.
