November 2, 2021
It is with great sadness the family of Brent Friday announce that Brent peacefully passed away at the age of 93 on November 2, 2021. Brent is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Yvette Friday, his six children Tom (Beth), Jann (Jeff), Richard (Jody), Jim (Shelly), Deirdre (Brad), and Nanci, 17 Grandchildren and Spouses and 28 Great Grandchildren. Brent was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Most of his growing years were spent in Vancouver BC where he met and married his wife Yvette. They made the big move to Lake Cowichan BC to begin their life as a married couple in the early fifties. He then moved to a company house in Honeymoon Bay where he began his family.
For the first few years he worked at the Gordon River site where he managed the payroll and was the First Aid Attendant. Dad worked for WFI for 31 years as an accountant and payroll person. Dad belonged to the Lake Cowichan Drama Club that won awards for plays and he was also very involved in volunteering his service for community jobs such as School Board Chairperson, Volunteer Firefighting and Scouting. He was even honoured with the Citizen of the Year Award. Upon retirement Dad and Mom moved to their summer home on Quadra Island where they lived for many wonderful, fun filled years.
At the age of 80 they made the move back to the Cowichan Valley to be closer to his family. His last couple of years were spent at Sherwood House in Duncan, BC. He was a fun loving, kind, person that felt family was the most important thing in life. He was always up to some shenanigans of some sort. His laughter and his fun filled events will be missed by many. For all the special occasions he provided the balloons and he was known as the balloon man.
The family would like to thank the many wonderful people at Sherwood House and Dr. Manhas.
There will be no Service by request.
