It is with regret that we announce William (Bill) Hughes , 96, of Campbell River BC passed away on Wednesday September 23 peacefully in his sleep with his wife Ann of 69 years, by his side.
Born June 27, 1924 in Edmonton AB Bill was the son of Clementine Marie and Phillip Hughes. Bill grew up on the family farm in Prince Albert SA with his 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He joined the army in 1944 and after the war Bill moved to Campbell River. Bill and his brother Pat ran Hughes Brothers Plumbing and Heating. Bill continued to do plumbing and heating work in Campbell River until he retired in his 80th year.
In his retirement years Bill enjoyed performing with the North Island Fiddlers.
Bill is survived by his wife Ann Hughes, their daughter Wendy Masterton, her husband Sandy, their children Alexis Fells ( Morgan Fells) , Cameron Masterton (Anthony Hepburn) , his brother Roy Hughes and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of the North Island Hospital Campbell River Third Floor, Dr Roger Seldon and Dr. S Lebeuf for their excellent care and support.
