September 29, 1930 - April 20, 2021
Much loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Beverly Joan Peters passed away on April 20 at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband Alec Caig Peters in 1992. She is survived by her sister Donna (Hil) of Victoria and three children, Ken (Louise), Sue (Phil) and Lynn as well as 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mom was born in Vancouver in September 1930 and moved to England in 1939 with her mother and younger sister. She spent her formative school years in England and returned to Canada after the war, eventually moving to Duncan. She met Alec while working at Harvey's confectionary store in Duncan where dad would come for his work breaks.
The couple soon married and moved to a rural property in Glenora where they lived for over 40 years while raising their family. Bev was a devoted mother, homemaker, gardener, knitter and an avid reader. She was a self-taught musician, playing the accordion and piano. She had a true love for her gardens and nature.
Mom was always the quiet one in a crowded room being more comfortable in a one-on-one situation and at the same time possessing considerable intellect. In later years she moved to Chemainus to be closer to her family eventually moving into beautiful Dovehill House where her room had a magnificent view of the ocean.
Due to the pandemic, a Celebration of Life gathering will be delayed until later in the year when life becomes more normal. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Cancer Society is requested.
