In loving memory ~
From hale and hardy stock, Beverly was born to Victor and Lilian Sproule in the small prairie town of Watson, Saskatchewan. Born the third of five children, Beverly learned to be as resilient as the wheat that blew in the prairie wind. Life in the 30's wasn't easy but their family bond was strong. After losing her older brother (Winston) and her mother at a young age, she found out just how capable she and her older sister, Arline, were; tending to younger brothers, Tommy and Terry, cooking for thrashers, going to school, they rose to meet each new challenge.
Beverly met the charming Fred Little and married in 1950. Yearning for change, life on the prairies was packed up and in 1957 with three children in tow, they crossed the Rockies to settle in Cobble Hill. With the arrival of two more children life was busy and full; cooking, tending both gardens and farm animals, mending not only clothes but bumps and bruises. Mom made home the heart where friends and family were all welcomed to share a meal and her witty humour. Anything, including her kids, that Beverly gave her attention to flourished. Her vital role in the family business reflected a lifetime embracing the value of learning new skills. With the kids raised, there was time for traveling, volunteering, evening classes and pursuing artistic interests including doll-making and illustration.
She was welcomed home by our dear father and those who have gone before her, but she will be dearly missed by her children, Debra Little (Tim), Terry Little (Patsy), Craig Little (Rose), Wendy Little (Eric), and Marjorie Gibson (Craig), treasured grandchildren, great grandchildren and her loving extended family.
Thank you to Dr. Jonathan Griffin for years of care, and to Dr. Chen and the Sunridge team for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, consider a walk in remembrance and reflection along a section of the Trans Canada Trail. Beverly was an early supporter of the idea of a Great Trail traversing and connecting our country. Should you wish to donate in her honour, please consider either the above, The Cowichan Hospice or The Arthritis Society. The image of Beverly's final signature wave goodbye, followed by a blown kiss, will remain in our hearts forever.
An afternoon tea will be held at a later date.
