It is with great sadness that we announce the relatively sudden passing of Betty Edgell, our beloved wife, mother, sister, sister- in-law, aunt and friend. She passed away quickly at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on Friday, October 8th, 2021, at the age of 74.
Betty is survived by her loving husband, Peter; her daughters Dawn and Heather; her sister, Angela; her brothers, Mike, Gerard, John, Peter; her sister-in-law, Martine; brother-in- law, Jimmy; many nieces and nephews; as well as extended family, especially Pat McQuaid, and many friends everywhere.
She is predeceased by her parents and brothers Joseph, Paul and Tony.
Betty was an avid knitter, crocheter, and crafter. She loved spending time in the garden with plants of all kinds and had a wonderful green thumb keeping everything beautiful. She loved nature and animals and did her best to protect the plants and creatures of this world.
She loved and took excellent care of her family and had many jobs over the years including caretaker of older clients, cashier, and housekeeper. She will be greatly missed by her entire family and everyone who knew her.
We wish a special thank you to the wonderful doctors, nurses and caring staff at Victoria General Hospital and most recently Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. They provided fantastic care to Betty and compassionate support to the family during this difficult time.
In accordance with Betty's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at an undecided future date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's memory can be made to the BCSPCA.
